You can read and download a PDF copy of the 2017 Spellebrity Video Contest Official Rules and Terms of Participation here.
Videos will be accepted from Monday, October 17, 2016, through Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
Videos can be no longer than five minutes in length.
We want you to create a video around this theme: Spell out how to kindle the love of reading. Your video should feature three words that would be useful to know in a spelling bee that you have come across through your reading.
We suggest brainstorming a fun, narrative way to incorporate the spelling words and inspire others to kindle their own love of reading.
Each team can have no more than four members. Individual students are also welcome to enter the contest.
After the video submission period closes on January 31, 2017, a panel of judges will select the top 10 videos based on the following rubric: inspirational quality, relevance to the theme, creativity, and inclusion of at least three spelling words. These teams will be named Semifinalists.
The 10 Semifinalist videos will be posted for public viewing and voting on spellebrity.com from March 1, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. ET to March 24, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. ET, and members of the public will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite video. Each vote is limited to one vote.
Each video will be judged by a panel on the following categories: inspirational quality, relevance to theme, creativity and inclusion of at least three words that would be useful to know for a spelling bee.
The judging process will take place throughout February 2017, and the ten Semifinalist teams will be announced on Wednesday, March 1.
