Tickets are not required to attend the oral rounds of the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee competition on May 25 and 26, 2016. Admission to the oral rounds of competition is free, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
At Bee Week 2012, The E.W. Scripps Company announced it was exploring the possibility of adding an international spelling bee as a complement to its iconic Scripps National Spelling Bee. While Bee officials have been impressed by interest in the concept and in English-language education around the globe, there are no immediate plans to initiate an international spelling bee event.
In general terms, the program is open to students who have neither turned 16 nor passed beyond the eighth grade, and who attend schools that officially enrolled with our program for the current academic year. For more details, please see the complete listing of eligibility requirements.
Bee Week 2016 will take place May 22–May 27, 2016. The onstage rounds of competition take place May 25 and 26, 2016, in the Maryland Ballroom within the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
Admission to the onstage rounds of the 2016 Bee on May 25 and 26, 2016, are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
