At the end of the round

Maya Jadhav, speller 484, is a fifth grader who made the finals for the second time Maya, who is from Wisconsin, tied for 42nd place last year.

This year, she misspelled "praseodymium," a yellowish white trivalent metallic element of the rare-earth group.

Keerthana Krishnan, speller 545, misspelled "pilosebaceous," and is out.

"Thank you, Dr. Bailly. Good luck everyone," she said before leaving the stage.

The word means of or relating to hair and the oil-secreting glands in the skin.

Keerthana is a Texas seventh grader.
