Kindle Corner

While some of the spellers were prepping for the competition earlier this week, their siblings found a way to take a break. They piled into the Kindle Corner, playing with foam letter blocks and eating cereal. "I don't know how to spell," asserted 4-year-old Vivaan Modi, before saying that he could spell "dog," "cat" and "that." He demonstrated "dog" while hanging out in the letter-filled box. "This part is my favorite part in the spelling bee," he said. Seven-year-old Pranav Sure spelled "Kindle" and his name out of the blocks. Qasim Hussain, 8, and Talha Hussain 11, were playing with them, too, jumping in and out of the letters. Shashwat Patel, speller 156, hung out in the Corner with his parents after the preliminary test. "He's taking full advantage of the Kindle-sponsored seat," said his father, Prasanta Patel. D3S_4070
