Edwin Estep, speller 262, has a long bee history with his family. In addition to competing in the bee last year, his sister and two brothers have competed in a combined six competitions.
The Virginia eighth grader misspelled "oecophorid" and is out. But before he was eliminated, he said it was a "pretty amazing" experience.
"It was my dream to make it here," he said.
His siblings, he said, are proud of him.
