Tara Singh, speller 133 and a Kentucky eighth grader, is the only speller returning to the Bee for the fifth time.
She tied for 43rd place in 2013, 50th place in 2015, 22nd place in 2016 and 18th place in 2017.
She correctly spelled "Diplodocus," any animal of a genus of very large herbivorous dinosaurs from the Upper Jurassic of Colorado and Wyoming.
And she even laughed at Dr. Bailly's joke as he read the sentence: "The Diplodocus was a vegetarian and grew to about 90 feet, or so it claimed on its dinomatch.com profile."
