After Sylvie Lamontagne, speller 30, implored her fellow Coloradan, pronouncer Dr. Bailly, to help her out with an easy word, one of her competitors followed suit.
"I know I'm not from Colorado, but can you cut me a little slack too?" asked Mitchell Robson, speller 114.
"I can try, but I don't have much control over what word you get. I'll send you good thoughts," Dr. Bailly said.
Mitchell, who is in his third bee, spelled "nagelfluh" correctly.
