Nilla Rajan, Speller 327 and an Ohio seventh grader, is out on "popliteal" -- it means of or relating to the back part of the leg behind the knee joint.
She left the stage to cheers.
Nilla was last in the Bee in 2016 when she tied for 46th place.
We've also lost Eva Vega, Speller 350 and a North Carolina eighth grader in her last Scripps National Spelling Bee. Eva was also here in 2016, when she tied for 22nd place,
Her word was "paregoric," which means camphorated tincture of opium used to relieve pain.
