Grace Remmer (Speller 39) received a standing ovation from spellers and the audience after she misspelled "melocoton" and was eliminated from the competition.

Grace, a Florida eighth grader, was in her fourth and final Bee. It's the first time she made the finals.

"Anything I can reach, I'm going to study," she said before the finals. "I didn't think I'd make it."

So what did she think when she made the cut?

"Oh, thank goodness," Grace said.
