Who let the dogs in?

The canines were popular in Round Two of the Bee.

Spellers received words like "Borzoi," a breed of tall slender long-haired dogs of greyhound type developed in Russia for pursuing wolves and "barukhz," a swift greyhoundlike hunting dog of an ancient breed native to the Near East. They spelled "schipperke," "schnauzer" and "Weimaraner."

So when Jensen Schram (Speller 259) asked for a definition of the word "peccadillo," Dr. Bailly's first response was succinct.

"It's not a dog," he said.
