"Yikes," said Andrew France, speller 184, when he misspelled "pareiasaur" and was eliminated.
Andrew, and Ohio eighth grader, had been crossing himself as he approached the mic.
"Thank you," he said when he was eliminated. "It's been an honor."
Andrew, who is in his second bee, got a standing ovation when he waled off stage. He clapped along with the audience.
