At the end of Jashun Paluru's sentence, all the spellers on stage were feeling their necks.
"Despite the disparate backgrounds of spelling bee participants and attendees, we can all agree on one thing: these silky lanyards attached to our name tags feel nice," Dr. Bailly read.
"I have to agree," said Jashun, speller 74. The Indiana sixth grader spelled "disparate" correctly.
