Thomas Kaufman, speller 105, stopped partway through his spelling of rehabilitant.
"R-E-H-A-B-I-L-A - it's A - wait, it's A - I don't know," Thomas said.
He asked the judges if he could start over, and if they could disregard his spelling to that point.
Spellers are always allowed to begin again, but the letters they've said on stage count.
Thomas misspelled and is out.
