The Scripps National Spelling Bee takes place at The Gaylord in National Harbor, Maryland. For some of the spellers, it's exciting to be back. For others, it's impressive to see the venue for the first time.
"It's a bunch of nostalgia," said Zekey Huang, speller 249, who is here for the second time. "I remember every single hall and room."
Zekey said he's excited for the spelling, but he's just as excited to be at the Gaylord.
"I just think this hotel is amazing," he said.
Isabel Liu, speller 8, is a first-time speller at the bee. She said the hotel is "really big and it's really fancy" and she's enjoyed meeting all the other spellers.
Kolton Manuel, speller 360, said he's excited for the kickoff party and spelling on stage.
"From what I've seen so far, it's going to be amazing," he said.
What had he seen? Well, the Gaylord.
"The hotel rooms are great," Kolton said.
