The word means something that is taken for granted : a supposition.
"While writing on the whiteboard, Mrs. Minter learned quickly that her assumption that she knew how to spell 'assumption' was in fact incorrect," Dr. Bailly read.
Robert is a seventh grader from Germany. He got it right.
