Charles Fennell, speller 111, got his wish -- as he waited to spell "gingko" until the lights changed color.
"G-I-N-K-O," the Connecticut sixth grader said, an alternative spelling of the word.
We're done spelling for the day. So far, 75 spellers have gotten their words right this round and 28 have been eliminated.
Spelling resumes at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
