'There won't be another chance'

Chetan Reddy (Speller 238) is in the Semifinals at the Bee for the fourth and final time.

The Texas eighth grader spelled "graminivorous" properly in the first Semifinals round. While he took the preliminary test, his father, Vijay Reddy, said he was "obviously excited and nervous" about how his son would do.

"It's harder because it's his last chance," he said. "I want him to go as far as he can."

Chetan -- and the other spellers -- are calmer than the adults, Vijay said.

Chetan is calm. But he also has a goal in mind.

"This is the last year, so it's different," he said. "If I miss here, there won't be another chance."

Taking the computer test for the last time was a weird feeling, Chetan said.

"I'm definitely going to miss it," he said.
