Bee Week 2016 Competition Information
We want you to be as prepared as possible for the national competition in Washington, D.C. When you won your final local bee, you should have received your own copy of Webster's Third New International Dictionary and its addenda section, copyright 2002, from your sponsor. This is the Bee's official dictionary, and every word from the competition will come from Webster's Third. This dictionary should be an invaluable resource to you as you prepare for the Bee.
On Tuesday of Bee Week, you will take the Preliminaries Test in the Maryland Ballroom with your fellow spellers. To prepare you for this first part of the national competition, we have put together a sample test to help you become familiar with the test format. We have designed this Sample Test so that you can print out the forms and practice until you feel comfortable with the format. Listen to the sound file and practice as many times as you need!
We must receive your forms in our office by Monday, April 3, 2023.
We need a photo that best represents you for use in the Bee Keeper magazine and your speller bio page on spellingbee.com. During competition these photos will be displayed on a jumbo screen for an audience of at least 1,500 people.
A posed head and shoulder, full color, wallet-sized or larger photo is best.
