Dr. Bailly will serve as the official pronouncer of the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee alongside associate pronouncer Dr. Sietsema, head judge Brooks and other officials.

This year will mark Dr. Bailly's 21st year as pronouncer after serving 12 years as associate pronouncer.

LeVar Burton is an accomplished actor, director, educator and lifelong children’s literacy advocate. Burton has won Emmy and Grammy awards and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has entertained generations as former host and executive producer of PBS’s “Reading Rainbow,” starring as Kunta Kinte in the acclaimed television miniseries “Roots,” and as Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in “Star Trek: The Next Generation" television series.

Burton will host the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will be broadcast live on ION and Bounce on June 2, 2022.

LeVar Burton will serve as host of the Scripps National Spelling Bee for the televised Semifinals on June 1 and Finals on June 2, 2022, near Washington, D.C.
