Brendan Pawlicki, Speller 209, and a Michigan sixth grader, is out on the word "volplane."
It means sail or coast through the air in the manner of an airplane that glides.
Brendan started changing answers on the written test, he said, worried that he was wrong. He said he studied all the wrong words. Still, he made it to the finals. Doing so was “cool,” he said.
Brendan also enjoys playing Fortnite.
Brendan previously competed in 2017, when he tied for 35th place.
