Homonyms are no match for them

"This word has a homonym," Dr. Bailly told Braedon Olsen, speller 413.

"Great," the Ohio eighth grader replied.

But Braedon didn't have any trouble with "variance," the fact, quality or state of being different or changeable.

Neither did Caleb Xiao, speller 414, have any problem with his word, "monitory," meaning giving a friendly reproof, warning or reminder. It had a near homonym, as well.

The South Carolina eighth grader is in his second Bee.
