The New Jersey seventh grader in his second Bee also greeted us the last time he was on stage.
He spelled "incandescence" correctly. It's the glowing of a body due to high temperature.
Adonis Cusu, speller 271, could have used some of that heat. How was the New York eighth grader?
He shrugged. "Cold, he said."
Luckily, he spelled "carcinoma" correctly, a malignant tumor consisting of epithelial cells lying within the connective tissue framework of an organ or other structure of a human or an animal body.
Hopefully, the excitement will keep him warm.
