Ananya Vinay, a sixth grader from California, is your Scripps National Spelling Bee champion!
She spelled marocain, a dress fabric that is made with a warp of silk or rayon and a filling of other yarns and is similar to but heavier than canton crepe.
“I like finding stories behind words, investigating them further,” she said.
She's in her second Bee. Last year, she tied for 172nd.
