"Hi Dr. Bailly. I really need an easy word," Ritvik Teegavarapu, Speller 34 and a Florida eighth grader.
"I don't think any of you need an easy word. You're too good," Dr Bailly replied.
The word? "Quebec." As in, a province of eastern Canada extending from Hudson Bay to the Gaspé Peninsula and bordering the U.S. states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York.
"Sounds like a nice place," Ritvik said. "All right. Let's give it a shot."
He spelled it correctly, and looked quite happy to have done so.
