Charity-Dakota Jordan, Speller 483, made a heart with her hands as the audience cheered. The Washington eighth grader spelled "savant" correctly -- it's a person of learning; especially : one with detailed knowledge in some specialized field (as of science or literature) : scholar.
Charity-Dakota looked shocked to get it right.
But she has a large cheering section supporting her -- many returning Bee veterans. Charity-Dakota tied for 46th place in 2016 and 189th place in 2017.
